Accounting & Finance Manager

About Riddle Tractor

Riddle Tractor is a family-owned and operated equipment dealership serving Winston-Salem and the surrounding Piedmont Triad since 1979. We specialize in the sales, parts, and service of premium equipment brands, including Kubota and Scag Power Equipment.

We take pride in our reputation, our employees, and our commitment to taking care of customers long after the sale. As our business continues to grow and modernize, we are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented accounting professional to help lead our financial operations.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Accounting & Finance Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, and support management with reliable financial reporting.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands accounting fundamentals, enjoys solving problems, and is comfortable working independently in a small-business environment.

We are actively investing in automation and technology to streamline accounting processes, particularly accounts payable and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using technology, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping implement more efficient systems.

This position offers an opportunity to grow professionally and assume greater financial management responsibilities as our business evolves.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and support month-end and year-end closing.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including reviewing automated transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate posting.
  • Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Coordinate payroll accounting and support applicable tax reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory-related accounting records and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Work with outside accounting professionals on tax preparation and financial compliance.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare financial reports for management and ownership.
  • Monitor expenses, cash flow, account balances, and financial performance.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support management with accurate financial information for business decisions.

Technology & Process Improvement

  • Support implementation and ongoing management of accounting automation.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual data entry, improve accuracy, and streamline workflows.
  • Help develop financial reports, dashboards, and automated management reporting.
  • Establish and maintain clear accounting procedures and internal controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, including general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Experience with month-end closing and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and improving existing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Experience in an equipment dealership, automotive dealership, distribution, retail, or inventory-based business.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar position.
  • Experience with accounting automation, ERP systems, Power BI, or other financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and departmental profitability analysis.
  • CPA or CMA designation is a plus, but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary of $65,000–$75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Health reimbursement program.
  • Paid training and professional development opportunities.
  • Opportunities for performance-based incentives.
  • Stable, family-owned business with a collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunity to help modernize the company’s financial operations and grow into expanded financial leadership responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who takes pride in getting the numbers right, takes initiative without needing constant direction, and understands that accounting should help a business operate better—not simply record what has already happened.

You should be equally comfortable reconciling a balance sheet account, investigating a vendor discrepancy, preparing a financial report, or helping improve an accounting process.

We value accountability, sound judgment, integrity, teamwork, and a willingness to continuously improve.

Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Schedule: Monday–Friday
